Large Buffalo Moon rawhide rattle, hand painted by Rose Briseno. Decorated with leather, rabbit fur,, tin cones and elk suede. Approximately 14 inches long, exclusive of fringe — this rattle is one of a kind.
Rose Briseno, a native of California, is part Chiricahua Apache and Tarahumara. Soon after high school, Rose began custom dressmaking, and by the early seventies, was designing and making hand laced leather garments and accessories.
In 1975 Rose moved to Pagosa Springs, Colo. where she learned the art of scrimshaw and silversmithing. From 1991 until 2003, Rose lived in Taos, NM. where she began designing and hand painting native drums, and has been doing so for fifteen years. She now lives in Oregon.
